With over 20 years of experience in the construction industry, Justin specialises in electrical and controls design and installation within the HVAC&R sector. As Managing Director, he brings a wealth of technical knowledge and leadership to the business, drawing on a strong foundation built during his seven-year tenure with Siemens Building Automation in Sydney. There, he worked as a control’s technician, programming and commissioning complex projects across data centres, hospitals, commercial developments, and universities.

Justin’s time with a global organisation gave him invaluable insight into the operations of large-scale enterprises. He now leverages this experience to lead a focused, efficient, and results-driven business dedicated to delivering high-quality Building Automation Control solutions.

David brings over 20 years of experience in the construction industry, with a specialised focus on the delivery of electrical and control systems. His career began as an apprentice electrician with Control & Electric, progressing through project management roles to his current position as Director and Construction Manager at IES.

David is known for his exceptional ability to liaise with builders, coordinate services, and manage project delivery from concept to completion. His strong communication skills and commitment to collaboration have been instrumental in fostering lasting client relationships and securing a loyal base of repeat business. His hands-on experience, combined with strategic oversight, ensures each project is delivered with precision, efficiency, and a high standard of quality.

With a distinguished background in the building automation industry, Joe brings a wealth of technical expertise and leadership to his role at IES. His career journey, from Electrician to BMS Service Engineer and now Controls Technician and Service Manager, reflects a deep commitment to innovation, growth, and excellence in the field.

At IES, Joe leads our service division with a clear focus on delivering responsive, future-focused solutions tailored to our clients’ evolving needs. His comprehensive understanding of building management systems, paired with a passion for operational efficiency and sustainable outcomes, positions him as a driving force behind our continued success. Lachlan completed his apprenticeship with IES and has been an integral part of the team ever since. From the very beginning of his career, he has demonstrated a strong work ethic, technical skill, and a drive for excellence that has seen him grow into a trusted leader within the business.

With over a decade of experience, Lachlan has built a reputation for delivering high-quality outcomes across a range of minor projects. His ability to manage deadlines, maintain clear communication, and ensure client satisfaction at every stage has made him a key contributor to IES’s ongoing success.

As Minor Works Manager, Lachlan leads with integrity and precision, bringing out the best in his team while upholding the highest standards of workmanship and service. His deep understanding of project delivery and client expectations makes him a valued leader and a cornerstone of our operations.

With more than 22 years of experience in the construction industry, Anthony brings a wealth of knowledge and practical insight to his role at IES. Beginning his career as an apprentice electrician, he has progressed through senior positions including Project Manager and Construction Manager, notably leading projects at our New Zealand branch.

Now serving as Estimator, Anthony plays a pivotal role in shaping project outcomes from the outset. He combines deep technical understanding with a practical, solutions-focused approach to define clear scopes and deliver accurate, cost-effective proposals. His ability to balance big picture thinking with meticulous attention to detail makes him an invaluable asset to our team and a trusted partner for our clients.

Sonia Voysey is the driving force behind the smooth and efficient operation of IES Automation across all our branches. With over 15 years of dedicated experience, she ensures every aspect of the business runs seamlessly and professionally. Sonia’s expertise in streamlining processes and providing exceptional support to both our team and clients is integral to maintaining our high standards. Her positive and proactive approach fosters a culture of collaboration and excellence throughout the organisation. Holding a Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety, Sonia also champions a safe and compliant workplace, reinforcing our commitment to wellbeing at every level.

Joshua began his career at IES Automation, completing his electrical apprenticeship before advancing to the role of Controls Technician within the Projects and Engineering team. After gaining broader experience in the electrical industry, he returned to IES with enhanced expertise and a renewed focus to lead the Energy and Analytics division.

In this role, Joshua implements advanced software and control strategies to identify energy efficiencies for both new and existing clients, delivering cost-effective solutions that also promote environmental sustainability. Known for his strong problem-solving abilities and extensive programming experience within building management and control systems, Joshua plays a vital role in driving intelligent, sustainable outcomes that help our clients operate smarter and greener.

Paul is the Electrical Estimator for IES Automation New Zealand, bringing over 18 years of industry experience across the electrical and mechanical sectors. In his role, Paul is responsible for evaluating project scopes, preparing detailed and accurate cost estimates, and supporting the successful planning and execution of electrical installations.

His career spans both Ireland and New Zealand, where he has delivered work across a wide range of industries, with a strong focus on facilities management and technically complex environments. Paul’s combined field experience and commercial insight allow him to approach each project with a practical, solutions-driven mindset.

Detail-oriented and collaborative, Paul plays a critical role in ensuring our projects are delivered efficiently and to the highest standards. His expertise and commitment make him a valued member of the IES New Zealand team.

Devon is an experienced electrical professional with over 10 years in the industry. Starting as an apprentice in 2013, he has worked across commercial, industrial, E4M, and residential sectors. Now as Operations Manager at IES Automation, Devon oversees project delivery with a focus on quality, efficiency, and continuous improvement.

Known for his practical approach and problem-solving mindset, Devon brings hands-on expertise and a commitment to getting the job done right. His work across the South Island reflects both his technical capability and dedication to the industry.

Hayden is an expert in mechanical projects, With over a decade of industry experience across Australia and New Zealand. With a strong focus on client relations and team leadership, he is dedicated to delivering exceptional results and quality. Driven and knowledgeable, Hayden leverages his expertise to ensure smooth project execution and collaboration.

Richard brings close to 20 years of industry experience to his role as Wellington Branch Manager at IES Automation. He began his career in 2002, completing his apprenticeship with a Wellington-based Electrical for Mechanical (E4M) company and gaining his registration four years later. Since then, he has specialised in E4M installations, working extensively across both public and private hospitals as well as many of Wellington’s central high-rise buildings.

For the past decade, Richard has successfully managed a range of complex projects, building a strong reputation for delivering quality work and maintaining long-standing client relationships. His expertise includes medical gas equipment and plant installations, along with a practical, solutions-focused approach to design-build challenges.

Passionate about the industry and driven by quality outcomes, Richard is committed to growing IES’s presence in the Wellington region and establishing a trusted local brand known for service excellence and technical expertise.

With over 12 years of experience, including a decade in the mechanical electrical industry — Frazer brings strong leadership and hands-on expertise to every project. As Site Supervisor, he oversees all aspects of job delivery, from progress meetings and team coordination to equipment ordering and on-site execution.

Frazer’s portfolio includes major projects such as the Wellington Archives, Wellington Children’s Hospital, and a chiller upgrade at 171 Featherston Street (InterContinental). A Registered Electrician, he’s skilled in medical gases, HVAC fire shutdown systems, chillers, and fume cupboards.

Known for leading by example, Frazer excels at prioritising tasks, solving problems under pressure, and driving his team to deliver high-quality results on time.

Todd McBride is a dual trade-qualified Electrician and Air-Conditioning/Refrigeration Technician, with tenure at IES dating back to 2009. Throughout his career, he has steadily advanced within the organisation, acquiring extensive expertise in HVAC systems and the Reliable Controls product suite.

His comprehensive understanding of multinational operations underpins his effective leadership of a highly focused business unit specialising in Building Automation Controls.

Todd is widely recognised for his ability to lead cross-functional teams and respond proactively to client requirements. His emphasis on clear communication and service excellence has earned him strong, enduring relationships across the industry.

Having contributed across all IES branches and formerly overseeing the company’s New Zealand operations, Todd now serves as the Branch Manager for Queensland, where he continues to drive strategic growth and operational excellence.

Gerard Hall brings over 30 years of experience in the Building Automation industry across Queensland. For the past two decades, he has been instrumental in expanding the presence of Reliable Controls throughout the state, helping to establish a strong and trusted footprint in the market.

Gerard is known for his deep technical expertise and ability to communicate complex solutions clearly and effectively. His passion lies in championing truly “open” systems solutions that promote long-term flexibility, user empowerment, and seamless integration. He works closely with clients to deliver tailored, forward-thinking outcomes that support both operational efficiency and long-term sustainability.
