For regional councils and clients, distance adds complexity to facility management. Callouts from distant contractors are costly and slow, and teams often face delays in resolving issues that could be addressed more efficiently with better oversight. The solution is clear: secure, reliable remote access.
Goulburn Mulwaree Council has taken that step. Through the upgrade of one of its facilities, IES Automation proposed and delivered a dedicated Reliable Controls® WebView Head End Server. This platform gives Council staff real-time visibility of building performance across their network, allowing them to triage issues remotely and decide whether on-site attendance is required. The result is faster response, fewer unnecessary callouts, and better value for the community — benefits that resonate across many regional clients facing similar challenges.
To ensure confidence, WebView was deployed within Council’s own IT environment. Data remains inside existing security perimeters, with role-based access and encrypted communications aligned to internal protocols. In practice, this means staff gain the advantages of remote oversight without compromising protection of critical infrastructure — an approach well suited to regional clients who must balance capability with risk management.
Importantly, the new Head End also provides a pathway for the future. As operational priorities and budgets allow, additional buildings can be brought under the system, enabling a single, consolidated view of facilities if and when Council chooses to take that step. This flexible, scalable model ensures that investment today continues to deliver value tomorrow — whether for Goulburn or other regional clients seeking smarter oversight across multiple sites.
For IES Automation, the project demonstrates how modern remote access solutions can transform the way regional councils and clients manage their assets. By combining visibility with security and scalability, Goulburn Mulwaree Council shows how smarter systems deliver better outcomes for staff, stakeholders, and ratepayers.
